Reykjavik Car Hire
Many people choose to spend a couple of days in Iceland's capital city before heading off to explore the rest of the country. This can mean you do not need a hire car until a couple of days after your arrival and therefore a car rental company in the city itself is very handy. There are a number of companies to choose from with a range of cars so you can find the right one for the type of trip you are planning.
Reykjavik is a pretty city with multicoloured houses and, if you go up to fourth floor of Perlan, you will find an observation desk which gives you amazing views over the beautiful landscape. There are the National and Saga museums both of which celebrate the history of the vikings. This is a family friendly city with many features accessible on foot.
Once you have your hire car, the rest of Iceland awaits you with its waterfalls, lagoons, glaciers and hot springs. Pick your route around this stunning country and, if you don't fit it all in on your first trip, you'll just have to return!
Reykjavik Top Tip
If you are spending time in the city before picking up your hire car then you come plump for the Reykjavik City Card which gives you entry to many of the attractions in the city including the zoo, as well as free use of the buses and a free ferry ride to Vloey Island. There are 24, 48 and 72 hour cards and they can be bought in many hotels, museums and the tourist office.
