Car Hire at Turin Airport
Turin Airport is also known as Turin-Caselle Airport. It is located at Caselle Torinese, around 10 miles northwest of Turin.
Whilst the site dates back to 1953, it was significantly updated in 1989 for the 1990 World Cup and was modernised again in 2005 ahead of the Winter Olympics. It is one of Italy's most modern airports, but suffers at peak periods from overcrowding, and lacks an easy connection with the city. This means car hire is a popular choice particularly with skiers and boarders heading for the Alps.
Turin Airport Top Tips
-The free wifi at Turin is not highly rated. Consider grabbing a 'pay as you go' SIM. You can always get a Mifi unit to create your own local hotspot. The 3 network with their 'feel at home' service which extends the service you would get at home to Italy is another popular choice.
-If visiting in the winter heading for the slopes, leave plenty of time for your return to Turin Airport. The motorways get very busy as everyone tries to head back at the same time.
-Security can get busy especially on peak weekends - consider buying a Security FastTrack which costs €5 per adult.
