San Jose Car Hire
San José, or Chepe as it is known by the locals, is at first glance a bit of a concrete jungle. However, once you look past the austere architecture and noisy traffic, the city has many hidden charms. Places worth visiting include the historic areas of Barrio Amón, where the cafe culture has developed. Restaurants, hotels and galleries have also been created from converted Spanish style mansions. Walk through the Parque La Sabana, known locally as the 'lungs of the city', or get in the groove in one of San Jose's many clubs and bars.
For those flying out of Costa Rica's largest airport just north west of San Jose, it's worth spending a day or two exploring the city.
In fact, after the long flight from the UK, many choose to stay a night or two in the city acclimatising before collecting a hire car and starting to explore the country more widely.
