Debit Card Car Hire at Porto Airport
If using a debit card, the debit card must be embossed and have the lead driver's name on. Centauro accept debit cards with their standard and SMART package. Please be aware that if you intend on using a debit card, the full deposit amount will be charged to your debit card. On the return of the vehicle, Centauro will refund the deposit if there is no damage to the vehicle, however this amount can take up to 30 days to get back into your account. In addition, you may not receive the same amount back in GBP as was left as the deposit, this is due to exchange rate fluctuations and bank charges. Centauro and Clarify Car Hire take no responsibility if the amount returned is less than was debited at the beginning of the rental.
The deposit is €100 for Centauro's SMART package in mainland Portugal regardless of whether a debit or credit card is used (this does not apply for Madeira).
(Due to fluctuations in the rate of exchange and other bank charges, Centauro will not be responsible for any difference between the rate charged and on any refunds made.)
Other credit cards (including Visa Dankort, Chinese UnionPay and Diners Club), Cash, Prepaid Credit Cards and Debit cards (unless the Premium Package is purchased) are not accepted.
AMEX, prepaid, rechargeable or virtual credit cards or card where the card details are not raised (‘embossed’) are also not accepted.
If the premium package is taken, you can use a Visa, Maestro or Mastercard debit card - you will be asked to leave details of your card on pickup. Please note, this deposit may take up to thirty days to be returned to your debit card depending on the issuing bank of the card and neither OK Mobility or Clarify Car Hire take any responsibility if the amount returned is not the same as the amount taken due to exchange rate fluctuations and/or bank charges. The card must be in the main drivers name. Any local charges, extras or other equipment or services purchased at the car hire desk will also be charged to the card.
When a debit card is presented the pre-authorisation is charged and not blocked, due to impossibility of blocking charges into a debit card.
Pre-payment cards are not accepted, RecordGo do not accept cash payments, smartphone payments, cheques, or banks transfers. The holder of the bank card must be the contract holder and must present at the time of making the payment a valid card. Only one bank card can be used per contract and the card must be non-transferable. The card holder must be present when the rental agreement is signed and the holder must know the card's PIN. The payer must ensure that the bank card has sufficient funds at the time of picking up the vehicle to pay for the rental with all the selected options, and, where applicable, to block or charge the pre-authorization amount corresponding to the group of the rented vehicle.
