We can provide car hire from the age of 18 through out partner car hire companies in Italy. Through many other websites you are likely to find 21 is their minimum age for renting a car in Italy. However we now have suppliers who are happy to rent cars to younger drivers - therefore opening up the market to many more new drivers. Cars can be hired in a range of popular locations, but not in every location in Italy yet, so simply run a quote above to see if we can tailor a rental to your age.

These companies have offices in many of the popular holiday airports including Bergamo, Pisa, Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa. Often though there is a requirement to have held your licence for at least a year.
Can I hire a car in Italy if I have held my licence for less than a year?

We can offer car hire to those aged 18 and over without a minimum term licence requirement. So,if you have held your licence for less than a year and want to hire a car in Italy, just run a quote for the dates you need and check the licence requirements when you read the terms and conditions.
Will I be charged extra if I am a younger driver?
There are a number of extra fees that can apply to younger drivers. When running a quote with Clarify Car Hire you will always find we include young driver fees, and other unavoidable surcharges wherever possible, which means you can rely on the price we quote being the price you will pay for your hire car, whatever your age. PLEASE NOTE AS WE ARE NOT AWARE OF THE PERIOD YOU HAVE HELD YOUR DRIVING LICENCE YOU MAY NEED TO ADD ANY FEE IF APPROPRIATE. These extra fees can include:
Young Driver Fee - this is a straight fee that rental car companies apply when hiring to a young driver. Whilst a few companies do not levy a fee, others will charge between €5 and €35 a day (although often the fee is capped).
Experience Required - some car hire companies will expect you to have held your full licence for at least their stated minimum length of time to be able to rent with them but we do have one company on Clarify Car Hire with no minimum requirement. Please check the terms and conditions before you book to ensure you fit their driving licence criteria.
Young Driver Insurance - this is an additional insurance which can, with some companies, be mandatory if a young driver wants to rent a car. In other words, you wouldn't be able to rent a car with that company without taking the extra insurance out.
When extra charges apply to a younger driver, we will include them in your quote, so you can make a realistic comparison of both companies and cars.
Additional Drivers
Fees and licence requirements will also apply to any young additional drivers too. As additional drivers are added at the desk, relevant charges will be applied when you pick your car up so are not included in your quote
Where can Young Drivers Rent Cars In Italy?
Bergamo, Pisa, Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino and Olbia all have companies who will hire out cars to those 18 and over and there are more being added all the time. We are always on the look out for more options for younger and new drivers so, even if you are travelling elsewhere, do pop in a quick quote request above to see if we can now help you.
Those 21 and over have far more choice and almost all cities and airports in Italy can hire cars out to those 21 and over.
Whatever age you are do check the length of time you have held your licence, as the one extra cost we cannot reflect is whether you meet the 'minimum license period requirements'. If you fail to meet this at best you might have to pay an extra fee, at worst your car rental might be declined at the desk and you find yourself without transport.
