Excess Waiver Insurance Terms and Conditions
This insurance is intended for any person hiring a vehicle where the car rental company supplying the vehicle includes excess waiver as part of the car rental agreement. These terms and conditions should be read in conjunction with the policy wording.
Who is eligible to purchase this insurance?
Any person:
Aged between 21 and 84 years
Holding a valid and internationally recognised driving licence or permit for the rental vehicle. This must be valid in the country in which you are travelling
Eligible to rent and drive the vehicle and able to adhere to the terms of the car hire agreement
Named on the car rental agreement
What is covered?
Loss Damage Waiver
Any physical loss or damage to the Hire Vehicle for which You are responsible for under the terms of the Hire Agreement up to £6,000.00 for each loss and in total. This will include but not limited to Auto Glass, Roof, Tyres, Wheel Rims and the Under Body of the rented vehicle.
Key Cover
Cover up to £500.00 for costs incurred for replacing lost or stolen Hire Vehicle Keys, including replacement locks and locksmith charges.
Mis-fueling
Cover up to a £500.00 in the event that the wrong fuel is put into the hired vehicle. This covers the cost to flush the engine, towing charges and any additional travel expenses.
Administration Fees
Cover up to £550.00 towards any administration charges which are applied by your rental company and cannot be recovered following a claim which is covered by this insurance. This includes charges for loss of use.
Towing Charges
Cover up to £500.00 towards any towards any Towing charges which are applied by your rental company and cannot be recovered following a claim which is covered by this insurance.
Vehicle Battery Failure
Cover up to £200.00 in the event that the battery of the Hired Vehicle fails. This covers the cost of replacing the battery and fitting charges, your additional travel expenses and any additional charges applied by the Hire Company for providing you with a replacement Hire Vehicle.
Locked Out Cover
In the event that you unintentionally lock yourself out of the hired vehicle we will reimburse the costs incurred up to £100.00 to open the hired vehicle.
Curtailment
We will provide a benefit of £30.00 per days to a maximum of £300.00 in total if the hire agreement is cut short on the advice of a Medical Practitioner and there being no other person authorised by the Hire Company to drive the Hired Vehicle.
Drop Off Charges
In the event of there being no person authorised to return the Hired Vehicle to the agreed drop off point following an accident/illness for which hospitalisation takes place, we will indemnify you up to £300.00 for charges made by the Hire Company to recover the Hired Vehicle.
What is not covered?
Claims will not be paid in the following circumstances:
Where you do not meet the policy eligibility requirements.
For any costs that can be recovered from the hire company or any other person or company.
Which results from a direct breach of the terms and conditions of your hire agreement.
Which is for third party death, injury or property.
For any excess above the standard excess shown on your hire agreement.
Solely for the loss or theft of, or damage to, the contents of a hire vehicle.
Loss or damage to the interior of the rented vehicle other than in the event of a collision
For accessories which are fitted to or supplied with the hire vehicle, such as sound systems, radios, tape, CD or MP3 players, ski racks, car seats, GPS and satellite navigation equipment and telecommunications equipment.
For mechanical repairs or the cost of any replacement parts which are necessary as a result of misfuelling.
For any costs relating to a missed departure as a result of misfuelling.
Resulting from wear and tear or mechanical breakdown.
Resulting from your misuse of alcohol or drugs (including the misuse of prescription drugs).
Resulting from a fraudulent, dishonest, illegal activities or a criminal act committed by you.
If the hire vehicle was being driven by a person that is not named on your hire agreement.
That occurs while the hire vehicle is not on a public road, for example while on a safari or an adventure trail.
For any loss or damage resulting from a deliberate and intentional act by you.
For Additional Travel Expenses unless otherwise stated in the policy wording.
Arising whilst driving in violation of the road laws of the country of hire.
For the hire of certain vehicles, namely: trailers or caravans, trucks, commercial vehicles, any type of Motor Homes/Campervans, Vans, Mini-buses, motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, off-road vehicles, recreational vehicles, vehicles changed from their standard factory specifications.
Any loss arising from driving as Your occupation or profession or hires for commercial use or business use when purchasing an annual policy.
For call out charges not related to the main claim.
For payment card transaction fees.
For courtesy vehicles from a repair garage or dealership.
For Cleaning Fees.
Arising directly or indirectly from:
a. War or acts of terrorism
b. An insured person engaging in active war
c. Nuclear risks
Who arranges the Insurance?
Clarify Car Hire has partnered with Riverside Underwriting Limited (for UK, Channel Island, Isle of Man and Gibraltar business) and Riverside Insurance Agency Malta Limited (for EU business) to bring you this insurance, underwritten by Fortegra Europe Insurance Company Limited.
Riverside Underwriting Limited (Email: assistance@riverside-underwriting.co.uk) and Riverside Insurance Agency Malta Limited (Email: assistance@riversidemalta.com.mt) are insurance intermediaries acting on behalf of the insurer.
Neither company will provide advice but will answer any questions on the products sold. Both companies earn commission payable by the Insurer. Please email us if you would like to receive the IPID by post.
How are claims handled?
In the event that you have to claim on this policy your claim will be handled in directly by Orchard Administration. The claim procedure is set-out in the policy wording.
Can I cancel the policy?
You can cancel your policy before the policy start date. Should you cancel the car rental to which the policy is associated, the policy will automatically be cancelled. In both situations you shall receive a full refund. You can cancel your policy at any other time but there will be no refund.

Clarify Car Hire are an appointed representative of Riverside Underwriting.
