Why do Car Hire Prices Change so Quickly?
At the moment, money is tight for many of us and we're all looking to get as good a deal as possible. You may have noticed that there have recently been drastic fluctuations in car hire prices, with them changing not only week to week and day to day but also hour to hour. Particularly at the moment, we have customers running quotes and within a couple of hours coming back to it to find the price has gone up or down, but what drives this change in pricing?
It really is a case of supply and demand. All car hire companies have their fleet which is a set number of vehicles they have to hire out. Firms price these vehicles as they wish however if they begin to see the demand for certain dates is high and vehicles are being booked up quickly, they increase the price. However, if the company finds that cars are not getting booked up for dates then they will decrease the price for those periods to try and encourage people to hire them.
Due to this model, car rental prices are extremely dynamic and move quickly based on the demand that is being shown. Here at Clarify Car Hire, we always suggest booking early and remember you only need to leave a small deposit to secure your booking, you pay for the remainder of the booking at the car hire desk. At the moment, we are seeing a huge shift as in July the car hire firms finally received the stock of vehicles they were waiting for. This led to an influx of supply and companies therefore dropping prices quickly and quite significantly. There has been a drastic change in hire rates from May to September this year. As we mentioned in our feature in the Mail on Sunday, one huge benefit to our customers is that you're able to cancel and rebook your car with us if you notice the price has decreased. Leaving you as dynamic as car hire rates!
