Hire a car in the Canary Islands and enjoy some late summer sun
Clarify Car Hire can offer car rental in the Canaries - All seven islands!
We may be at the start of autumn but there are still many locations with plenty of sunny days still to come. As the schools have gone back you will also find the majority of these places are quieter as well as there being some great deals around. One of our favourite destinations for some late summer sun is the Canary Islands.
The seven beautiful islands of the Canaries are part of Spain despite being far closer to the shores of Africa than Europe! The islands of La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote all have their own distinct personalities but one thing they all have in common is that, if you are visiting any of the islands, you can find Canary Islands car hire through Clarify Car Hire.
Visit La Gomera for the forests – There are 650 km of trails across the island of La Gomera. Choose to find your own way or try a guided tour through the Garajonay National Park to discover all there is to know about the ancient laurel forests on the island.
Visit La Palma for the stars – There are tight light pollution laws on La Palma which mean that this is one of the best places in the world to get clear views of the night sky. You can spend the evening on the famous black sand beach or be in town to enjoy great star-gazing.
Visit Gran Canaria for the dunes – Gran Canaria has around 60km of fabulous beaches but the dunes in the south of the island are a big draw for visitors. These sands are forever shifting with the wind and sea and the perfect spot to unwind and relax.
Visit El Hierro for the sea – There are an amazing 46 dive sites on El Hierro and despite an underwater eruption in 2011, the ecosystem has totally recovered and there is a thriving marine life to explore. The new hydroelectric plant has made El Hierro the first island to only use renewable energy.
Visit Lanzarote for the sports – Whether you like land based activities such as walking or cycling, or if you prefer to take to the seas and enjoy watersports such as swimming or snorkelling, there are many opportunities in Lanzarote. The island can also boast several superb golf courses. In the evening enjoy a bottle of the local wine.
Visit Fuerteventura for the beaches – Fuerteventura has an incredible 150km of beaches. There are quieter stretches, lively areas as well as those beaches that are ideal for windsurfing or perfect for stretching out with a good book. When you need a break from the sun there are so many good restaurants along the seafront.
Visit Tenerife for the sealife – Take to the seas on a whale-watching tour off the coast of Tenerife. In the waters surrounding the island you can find up to 26 different species of whales so there is a high chance of spotting at least one! Seafood dishes are exceptional here as they often feature the catch of the day. Try churros de pescado the local fish and chips.
