We lead the way with winter tyre car hire!
Be prepared for the ski season with guaranteed winter tyres
If you are planning a trip this winter, how can you ensure you have the correct tyres on your rental car?
Use Our Guaranteed Winter Tyres Filter
Our filter offers you the choice between two options. You can choose Winter Tyres specifically which will show you results with guaranteed winter tyres. Alternatively, select Winter Tyres or Snow Chains, which come with either one or the other.
For car hire including winter season tyres, run your quote and, once your results are in, click on the filter. We are leading the way by offering customers a filter to book their rental with guaranteed winter tyres!
We do the searching for you
We offer winter tyre car hire in many countries but we would always recommend making sure you are aware of the winter driving regulations for whichever country you are visiting.
If you are picking up a car in Austria or Switzerland during the cold season then all the cars will come with winter tyres as they are compulsory.
In other countries there may only be a limited number of car rental companies who are able to guarantee that your particular hire will have winter tyres. The great news is that, by using our unique filter, we can show you which companies can provide this service and what it will cost.
Where you are not allocated winter tyres, you will usually have the option to add in snow chains or snow socks.
Book Early
We suggest booking as soon as possible if you need winter tyres as they are in limited supply. Not every car rental company has them and, of those that do, some only fit them to a fraction of their fleet. By booking early, you can avoid disappointment or last-minute panic!
Clarify Car Hire Winter Tyre Top Tips
Do always check the winter regulations of the country you are travelling to. Some countries make winter tyres compulsory between certain dates, in other countries all season tyres are acceptable, whereas elsewhere you may be required to have snow chains in the car.
If you are planning to cross a border with your rental car, you will need to have permission from the rental company and you will need to abide by the tyre regulations of the country you are picking up from as well as the one you are travelling to.
As winter tyres are provided with all hires in Austria and Switzerland, this can be helpful when you are visiting other countries. If you are landing in Geneva but travelling in France, you can choose to pick up on the Swiss side of the airport to ensure you will get winter tyres. You can do similar by choosing to hire in Innsbruck rather than Italy if you are travelling to the Dolomites.
Wherever you are heading this winter we wish you safe travels!
