Clarify Car Hire welcomes younger drivers to car rental
Have you never rented a car before? We offer a guide to those new to car hire
Hiring a car as a new or younger driver can be a slightly daunting experience but we hope at Clarify Car Hire that we can put your fears to one side and make hiring a car for the first time much more enjoyable.
It is important to rent the car that works for you – whether that is hiring a car similar to the one you are used to driving or one that isn’t going to leave you with no spending money for your holiday. At Clarify Car Hire we offer a variety of filters to enable you to tailor your car rental to the one that fits you. Before you book any rental you should check all the terms and conditions to be sure you understand them and to avoid any unwanted surprises when you reach the pick up desk.
These are some of the most common concerns we hear from those new to car hire and how we can help:
Have I held my driving licence long enough to hire a car?
There is a minimum term that most car hire companies specify in their terms and conditions so do check this before booking your car. If you have held your licence for less than a year, your options are more limited but not necessarily impossible! Please use our Driver Experience filter to select New Driver and we will show you any options that fit your criteria.
I’ve only driven an automatic car before.
No problem! Use our Transmission filter to select automatic cars only. When you book an automatic car, although the model of car may not be the one shown on your quote – as cars are usually hired on an ‘or similar’ basis – you will be provided with an automatic, not a manual.
I don’t have a credit card, can I still rent a car?
In most locations we are able to offer what we term ‘debit card friendly’ car hire. These are rental options where the car hire company are happy to accept a debit card at the desk and will not expect you to have a credit card.
Often when you opt for a debit card friendly package, you will be choosing a premium or excess-free package. This usually costs more but has the added benefit that you may not have to leave a security deposit on your card and may also provide a higher level of insurance too.
I can’t afford to leave a large deposit on my card.
For many people, having to leave a large security on their card, can be a deterrent to renting a vehicle for their holiday. With Clarify Car Hire it is easy to find options where no security deposit is required, or just a lower level. Use our excess filter together with our security deposit filter to tailor your hire to one you are comfortable with.
Does the rental include insurance?
All rentals with Clarify Car Hire come with the main cover of Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Waiver and Third Party Liability Insurance. There is more information on the insurance included when you click on the ‘View Terms’ button on the quote you are considering.
Will I have to pay more if I am a younger driver?
Young driver fees are likely to be applicable if you are under 25 years old and these will be included in the quote for the main driver. Please bear in mind that, if any additional drivers are also younger, they will also have to pay young driver charges. The young driver fees are payable on top of any additional driver fees.
After you have completed your booking, Clarify Car Hire will send you an email with a link to your voucher which you will need to bring with you when you go to the car hire desk. Read this voucher through as soon as you get it as it has all the information on it you need for a smooth car hire process. It will tell you where to go, what to do if you are late and how much you will need to pay at the desk as well as the car hire company contact details.
By reading your Clarify Car Hire voucher in advance of your rental, you have the opportunity to make changes to your rental if needed, or to ask us any questions before you travel. Any issues tend to be easier to resolve at an earlier stage rather than when you get to the desk!
Make sure you have the correct licence, payment card and any other documentation you may need to be able to pick up your car. Checking this well ahead of your hire will give you time to sort a replacement should you discover any issues.
If you have any questions regarding finding a car or the hire process, we are on hand to help through our online chat service.
