Where to Visit in Croatia
Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is magical, everything from the city walls to the little stone passageways to the islands off the mainland make it an incredible destination. You may recognise some areas from many Game of Thrones scenes where it features heavily, you can even travel to Lokrum to see the Iron Throne in person! There are also many a walking tour based around Game of Thrones attractions.
But the real magic lies in learning about the cities fascinating history, a simple walking tour will show you the historical areas and exhibits that can be so easily missed when wandering around on your own. The islands just off Dubrovnik are beautiful and easily accessible by ferries that go to and from them throughout the day. The food and drink scene in Dubrovnik is incredible, there's so much choice and the city is full of atmosphere both in the day and evening.
Hvar
Hvar is one of the many Dalmatian islands off the coast of Croatia and is a gorgeous little paradise. Not only does it boast great weather most days of the year it has both cultural and natural beauty to explore. The medieval fortress, Fortica, rises above the harbour and is worth visiting, as are the Franciscan Monastery and St Stephen's Cathedral. When it comes to natural beauty, there are fields and fields of olive trees, vineyards and lavender which are absolutely gorgeous to visit should you get chance.
The beautiful seas, hidden coves and incredible weather it makes this island a sunsoaked havem to enjoy. The food and local wines make it all the more special!
Zagreb
If you’re looking for more of a city break, Croatia’s capital city Zagreb is for you. It’s an incredibly interesting cultural hub filled with wonderful cafes, restaurants, museums, festivals, markets and parks. If you’re limited on time or you just want a weekend break, Zagreb is definitely worth considering. You certainly will not be disappointed by the plethora of activities to enjoy!
